A Labour Party, LP, Chieftain, Mr. Philemon Asonye Ogbonna, has commended the people of Ukwa West Local Government Area for coming out in large number to receive the Abia State LP gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Alex Otti.
It should be recalled that LP candidate, as part of his campaign tour, visited Ukwa West on Thursday.
Speaking with Newsportal, Ogbonna stated that the reception accorded the gubernatorial hopeful was impressive, adding that it was an endorsement of his candidacy by the people of Ukwa land.
“I believe Dr. Alex Otti, the candidate of the Labour Party in Abia State will fulfil the commitments he made to people of Ukwa West if he is elected as governor”, he said.
He was full of praises for Otti for appreciating the neglect of Ukwa by both the State and Federal Governments, and saying that he would move the headquarters of the Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, ASOPADEC, to Ukwa West Local Government Area to facilitate infrastructural development of the area.
He called for massive support for Otti, who he said had promised, among other things, to clear all outstanding pension arrears and salaries within one year of assuming office, making employment of Abians a top priority, lobbying the Federal Government to urgently fix the dilapidated portions of the Aba – Port Harcourt Expressway and turning Obehie into a large commercial town considering its strategic location of being in-between Aba and Port Harcourt.
Ogbonna described Otti as a focused and pragmatic leader, who gave his best when he worked in the banking sector, stressing that he was confident that the LP gubernatorial candidate would run Abia State efficiently and effectively, thereby delivering democracy dividend to the people of the State.
