The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has opened up on the rumours making the rounds that Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike was contemplating dumping the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He has dispelled the rumours on the planned defection of the Governor Wike to another political party.
Speaking during an interview with Arise Television on Thursday, Ortom, who disclosed that he had a meeting with Governor Wike, Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde outside Nigeria, said they agreed to remain members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He said he had discussed with the presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar to reach out to Governor Wike in order to pacify him, adding that once Wike was made to be happy, he would also be happy.
He said Wike has remained committed to the PDP and was indeed instrumental to his going back to the party, stressing that he was among those that convinced the governor to show interest in becoming the Vice presidential candidate of the party.
He said he advised the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi to reach out to other presidential candidates for them to come up with the best candidate among them in the interest of the country.
