The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged the presidential standard bearer of the party in the 2023 general elections.
The former Governor of Lagos State polled a total of 1,271 votes to beat his closest rival, the former Minister of Transport, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi who had 316 votes.
Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo scored 235, the Senate President, Alh. Ahmed Lawan 152, the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello 47 and the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Umahi 38, the Governor of Cross River State and Prof. Ben Ayade 37 votes.
Others were Ahmed Sani Yerima, 4, Emeka Nwajiuba, 1, Ogbonnaya Onu, 1, while the others scored zero votes.
Earlier, former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, former Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole and Governor of Jigawa State, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar and two others had stepped down for Senator Tinubu.
