A Frontline governorship aspirant in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Akan Okon, has told the people of the State that the leadership selection process in the State should be based on Competency, Capacity and Character.
Mr. Okon said that the State needed a leader who has understudied the rudiments of leadership in different spheres of life, knows the challenges, plights and yearnings of the masses and proffer solutions to arrest the challenges faced by the people which will metamorphose to value added leadership for shared prosperity.
The immediate past Commissioner for Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport, said that he is the most ‘Prepared’ and best ‘groomed’ gubernatorial aspirant in the state having served in 6 different ministries under two successive governments of Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio and His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel.
“At the present stage of our development trajectory, it is my considered opinion that our State deserves a visionary and purposeful leadership that will usher in rapid economic growth, inclusive development, justice, peace and shared prosperity. I am primed to provide that leadership. I am standing here today to appeal to elders, stakeholders, men and women of Abak Local Government Area to give me the opportunity to serve as your Governor come May 29, 2023” he said.
This was on Sunday during a consultative visit to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) officers where the delegation of One With God Campaign Organisation was warmly received by Dr. Mike Daniel Udo, the Chapter Chairman of Abak Local Government Area.
The Former Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport Commissioner, Mr. Akan Okon added that when leadership opportunity meets preparation; of which he is totally prepared to serve the people of Akwa Ibom State, development is inevitable.
On his part, Dr. Mike Udo, the PDP Chapter Chairman of Abak Local Government Area congratulated Mr. Okon for his zeal and determination to resign and seek for a higher elective position while urging him to play politics devoid of bitterness, hatred, acrimony and most especially eschew a campaign of calumny while praying God to lead in the affairs of men and choose a leader that will mean well for the people of Akwa Ibom State.
