Kanu Recounts Tinubu’s Contributions as Former Super Eagles Visit APC National Leader

Former Captain of the Super Eagles, Nwankwo Kanu has recounted how the seed money donated by the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was the reason for the realisation of the Kanu Heart Foundation that has saved many lives in Nigeria today.

Kanu made the disclosure during a visit of some of Nigeria’s former international footballers to Tinubu at Bourdillon House on Saturday.

He said

“Without that money, there wouldn’t have been Kanu Foundation to perform the heart surgeries that have saved many lives.”

The former international players, who said they visited to congratulate Tinubu on his 70th birthday which comes up on March 29, also commended the former Lagos State Governor for his contributions to democracy and good governance as well as the development of sports in Nigeria.

In his own speech, another former captain of the Super Eagles, Austin J.J. Okocha, said Tinubu was the reason why he usually calls Lagos his home.

International star and strong defender in his days, who has become a pastor, Taribo West, prayed for Nigeria to be blessed with more kind-hearted people like Tinubu, and wished him well in his presidential ambition.

Making his remarks, Tinubu thanked the players for their exploits in the game of football and putting smiles on the faces of many and for helping to put Nigeria’s name on the global map.

The presidential aspirant used the opportunity to seek the support of the players, adding that he has a vision, the competence and ability to implement the vision.

Among the ex-Super Eagles players were Peter Rufai, Ike Shorunmu, Dosu Joseph, Julius Aghahowa, Victor Agali, Garba Lawal and Uche Okechukwu.

Others were Obafemi Martins, Tijani Babangida, Victor Ikpeba, Mutiu Adepoju and Duke Udi.
