2023: Group Endorses House of Assembly Member, Adiele, For Second Tenure

The Asa Group of Ukwa West Local Government Area in Abia State, on Saturday, endorsed the member representing the Ukwa West State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Godwin Anyamagiobi Adiele, for a second tenure.

Performing the endorsement ceremony on behalf of the four electoral Wards in Asa Group comprising Asa South, Ogwe, Obokwe and Asa North, former Abia State Commissioner for Information and Strategy and the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor in the office of the Deputy Governor, Chief Sir Don Ubani, said the event became necessary in view of the performance of the honourable member.

He said Hon. Adiele, “has done very well in his first tenure, and so we are giving him the right of first refusal. On that note, based on the motion raised here, he is our candidate for 2023.”

It should be recalled that the honourable member, reacting to an online publication by one of his constituents recently, said he had trained more than 30 artisans all over Ukwa West, given University scholarship to three sons of Ukwa, paid school fees for few indigent children of Ukwa West, assisted five persons in gaining employment in the State Civil Service and Local Government Service, attracted a-four-classroom block to Umuelechi in the Obuzor Ward of Ukwa West, sank two boreholes in two health centres, renovated one health center and built a hall at the Obehie market.

He also said that he had bought 2 cars for two of his constituents, given out N1m to over ten persons, adding that more than 40 persons receive cash gifts of twenty thousand naira and above from him every month.

Adiele said apart from grading roads in the State Constituency, he had given out 10 brand new motorcycles, and attracted the renovation of a-five classroom block to the Obokwe Secondary School.

He, however, highlighted the fact that the primary responsibility of a Legislator is to make laws, represent his people and perform oversight functions.

On his primary functions, he said he had already moved motions on Insecurity, Environmental hazards from oil exploitation, non -electricity supply and bad roads in Ukwa West Local Government Area, and presented a bill on local content.

Among the dignitaries present during the endorsement for second tenure of Hon. Adiele were: former Commissioner, Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission, OMPADEC, Chief Sir Princewill Esiaba Iwezor, Commissioner, Local Govt Service Commission, Sir Eugene Dike, former Commissioner, Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, ASOPADEC, Barr Henry Chilaka, Chief Chinemerem Nlewem and Elder Gideon Chilaka.

Others were: former Commissioner, Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Henry Nwokemgbede, Chief Solomon Nwoko, Mrs Rhodah Emeka and Chief Chris Ehiemere.
