Unknown Persons Allegedly Kill 2 Soldiers In Abia Community

Two officers of the Nigerian Army have allegedly been killed in a community in the Ukwa West Local Government of Abia State.

The cause of the incident which is said to have occured around 4 am, Tuesday, at the boundary of Obibor / Owaza communities is yet to be ascertained.

Our sources said the patrol van of the soldiers, who were at their duty post, was also burnt.

Meanwhile, some residents of the Obibor / Owaza communities and their environs are said to have fled their areas for fear of reprisal attacks from the Nigerian Army.

Sources who spoke to our correspondent confirmed that many people have already moved their families to neighbouring communities, as the Army is said to have blocked the major roads in the communities.

When the Divisional Police Officer at Obehie, Ukwa West Local Government Area was contacted for confirmation of the incident, he said there was no such report in his Division.

The Army Public Relations Officer (APRO) of 14 Brigade Headquarters, Ohafia, Prince Omale, who was contacted by journalists, said that he was yet to be briefed on the incident.
